Kathleen’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation including product liability, mass tort, environmental, breach of contract and business torts. She has represented clients in both state and federal courts throughout the country, with significant experience in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York and California. She was also based in London for two years where she worked in jurisdictions throughout Europe.

Kathleen’s broad litigation experience includes trying multi-million dollar product liability trials in both state and federal courts. She has extensive expertise with scientific, medical, and other technical aspects of litigation that require expert testimony. Her career concentrates on handling this aspect of litigation, from evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of technical issues, identifying experts, developing expert opinions, taking and defending depositions and conducting trial testimony.

 

Noteworthy

Represented cigarette manufacturer Liggett Group Inc. in five jury trials in which Liggett was the sole defendant, including primary responsibility for obtaining a defense verdict for Liggett returned in 90 minutes that is believed to be the fastest rendered jury verdict in the fifty-year history of litigation against cigarette manufacturers

 

Experience

Handled product liability litigation for Fortune 100 companies as national and international counsel.

Secured a settlement for a public utility for claims of breach of contract and bad faith against an insurer for failure to provide a defense in an underlying environmental case.

Represented a natural gas utility company in its claim for faulty construction of a new pipeline, obtaining a verdict against the radiography defendant.

Represented individual plaintiffs in product liability actions against a major pharmaceutical company;
